Congratulations, you made it to the other side! Though you’ve come a long way through your new member process, your journey has just begun. In this Junior Active (JA) retreat, you will learn the secrets to making the most out of your college career beginning with Day 1 as a sister of aKDPhi. We’ll discuss why your status as a neo and geo matters and the importance of the lessons you learned through the new member process. This retreat will focus on identifying your hopes for aKDPhi and how to set a foundation to achieve those aspirations.

Being an executive board member at your chapter is a big responsibility. This session will help you learn how to lead your chapter in the right direction! Knowledge is only half the battle, so this is the time to learn everything you need to know from current and future chapter presidents, and National Board for running your chapter smoothly and efficiently this fall.

Turning Heads When Your New Class Stomps the Yard: Hosting A New Member Reveal

Turnabout. Coming Out Show. Reveal. Unveiling. Presents. There are many terms used to describe the introduction of a Greek organization’s newest members to the community. Come hear from former new member educators and reveal coordinators to learn (or teach!) about the history and tradition behind probates, and how several chapters have built traditions for their newest sisters.

Growing the Sisterhood: Understanding the New Member Program and Expansion Process

As our sisterhood has grown over the last 25 years, the ways we induct women into our sisterhood has evolved with it. Join our National Board Expansion Team for a session to learn about how we bring new women and chapters into our sorority through the New Member Program (NMP) and updated Expansion Policy. This is an opportunity for you and your chapter to be briefed on NMP guidelines and expansion efforts as our sorority continues to grow internally and externally. Future New Member Educators and another Fall 2015 executive board member are encouraged to attend.

aKDPhi Think Tank

National Board invites Chapter Presidents or VP Internals, VP Services, Treasurer or Fundraising Chairs, and Alumnae Chairs to join us in a 45-minute interactive discussion. The Think Tank is a once-a-year opportunity for National Board and chapter leaders to sit together and have a two-way dialogue, learn from each other, and provide support. Topics of discussion include financial security, national leadership/service programs, and alumnae engagement. It is our hope that we can work together to make next year another amazing year!

Advocacy After College

As sisters of alpha Kappa Delta Phi, we strive to constantly uphold all of our pillars during our active lives - after crossing into the organization, we are aKDPhis for life. So what does this really mean for us after college? How do we continue to uphold those values in our daily lives? In what ways can we continue to promote Asian-American awareness? How do we continue to serve as leaders within our communities? Learn more about advocacy work, how to stay engaged with community issues, pick up tips on how to connect with others who might share your passion for community service after college, and much more! In this workshop, I’ll share my personal experience and journey as a recent aKDPhi alumna working with different community groups and grassroots organizations to continue my passion for social justice and advocacy work.

After graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2002, Donna moved to Chicago, IL for a job at NCSA, an elite sports agency. After two years of corporate success, Donna transitioned to higher education administration and has worked full-time in admissions, financial aid, and accounting for the past decade. Donna now runs the graduate division of Northwestern University's music school, overseeing admissions, financial aid/fellowships/grants, registration, student life, and career services. Join Donna as she shares advice on preparing and applying to Graduate School, and how aKDPhi and your involvement can set you apart from other candidates!

Pursuing The American Dream: Planning for Home Ownership

Amy Duong Kim is an alumna of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelors of Science in Actuarial Science. After three years of actuarial consulting, she left the corporate world to pursue a career in real estate. Amy Duong Kim and her team have closed over $60 million and 250 transactions. The Duong Kim group has received accolades from the Chicago Association of Realtors, Jameson Sotheby's, and 5-star reviews on Yelp, LinkedIn, and Angie's List. She has recently been ranked #27 in her office of 300 agents, with a sales volume of $12 million in 2013 and $20 million in 2014. Join Amy for advice on preparing for home ownership, networking and how aKDPhi helped her succeed.

A former advertising and production executive for Saatchi & Saatchi and for Euro RSCG, Nicole realized in 1998 that there lacked a major imprint of Filipino culture in the culinary arts. Dining at some of the best restaurants in the world, she realized Filipinos had no seat at the culinary table. Determined to change that, Nicole moonlighted for 12 years: Advertising exec-by-day and dishwasher-hostess-waiter-manager by night, and eventually found her passion.
